For example, Ansel Adams used darkroom exposure techniques, burning (darkening) and dodging (lightening) a photograph. Photographs may be manipulated for political propaganda, to improve the appearance of a subject, for entertainment, or as humor.ĭepending on the application and intent, some photograph manipulations are considered an art form because they involve creation of unique images and in some instances, signature expressions of art by photographic artists. Some photograph manipulations are considered to be skillful artwork, while others are considered to be unethical practices, especially when used to deceive. Hurley argued with superiors over the ethics of compositing photos, arguing that war was conducted on such a vast scale that it was impossible to capture the essence of it in a single negative. So, I have strong suspicions that this recent issue is due to something else they implemented around the time I started having this problem.Australian photographer Frank Hurley formed this composite photograph from three original negatives of World War I Belgium. That turned out to be some change Adobe implemented that incorrectly affected PSE users that don't use eLive. I had a problem recently (reported here) with eLive causing problems. I have plenty of disk space and available Ram. I have no clue why this would just suddenly happen with the last couple days. In PSE, Preferences > Performance shows: Available Ram 25619 MB, and Let PSE use 70% (I had this on 80% originally and tried also with 90% and 70%). Files stored on 1 TB hard drive, which is currently less than 50% used However, all PSD's are taking significantly longer to load recently.

I have no errors on the smaller PSD files. They crash with an error "could not complete the request because of a disk error", which I believe is not really related to disk problems. As of the last few days, I cannot open the larger ones. I have large PSD files, several over 1 GB, but most in the 500 MB range. I use PSE just about every day, in Expert mode only.
